Name : James Berardinelli / Alias : ReelViews
What's the point? If I wanted to spend 12 minutes watching someone pushing a cart around a grocery store, I'd go to the local A&P, not sit in a movie theater.

Name : Lisa Schwarzbaum / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
Although each character holds the spotlight only briefly, she arrives as if with a life already in progress, and it's easy to believe that she'll keep busy even after the credits roll.

Name : Andrew Sarris / Alias : New York Observer
The cumulative effect of the rigorously controlled and purposive camera style adds up in the end to a collective portrait of womankind that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Name : Jack Mathews / Alias : New York Daily News
A fascinating series of vignettes.

Name : Lisa Rose / Alias : Newark Star-Ledger
For a film centered on connection and continuity, Nine Lives is curiously erratic.

Name : Laura Sinagra / Alias : Village Voice
The short-story glimpses aim for Carver-esque pang, though the script could have used some Lorrie Moore bite.

Name : Kevin Thomas / Alias : Los Angeles Times
A sophisticated, elegant-looking film shot in distinctive, wide-ranging L.A. locales, but its real terrain is the human heart, explored with compassion and respect.

Name : David Germain / Alias : Associated Press
The stories are sketches, often without resolution, and while individual segments succeed admirably, taken together the portraits are a fitful match.

Name : Roger Ebert / Alias : Chicago Sun-Times
The greatest short story writers, like William Trevor and Alice Munro, can awe us; their stories are short but not small. Here Rodrigo Garcia does the same thing.

Name : Moira MacDonald / Alias : Seattle Times
As delicately and precisely constructed as a spider's web, Nine Lives is a quiet triumph.

Name : Kyle Smith / Alias : New York Post
The bad stories waste your time, and the good ones leave you unsatisfied.

Name : Stephen Holden / Alias : New York Times
An extraordinarily rich and satisfying suite of fleeting but intense moments in the lives of nine women.

Name : Terry Lawson / Alias : Detroit Free Press
Composed of nine short films, each starring some of the best female actors working, though many of them aren't working enough.

Name : Ann Hornaday / Alias : Washington Post
The moments that Garcia has chosen to observe are unforgettable, the women - played by an ensemble of actresses at the top of their respective games - indelible.

Name : Ruthe Stein / Alias : San Francisco Chronicle
It feels like real life, in nine acts.

Name : Scott Foundas / Alias : Variety
Though the episodic structure results in a whole not quite equal to some of its parts, pic is an unusually tender, perceptive character study buoyed by stellar performances from a who's who of talented (and many underused) actresses.

Name : Eleanor Ringel Gillespie / Alias : Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Some parts are stronger than others, but as a fleshed-out artistic vision, Nine Lives works remarkably well.

Name : Carrie Rickey / Alias : Philadelphia Inquirer
[Garcia] leaves you thinking deeply about these people. And leaves you wanting more.

Name : Nathan Rabin / Alias : AV Club
If only every women's movie had Nine Lives' fire, intelligence, and conviction, they wouldn't have such a shaky reputation in the first place.

Name : Bruce Westbrook / Alias : Houston Chronicle
The cast steps up, embracing the chance to exercise acting chops normally limited to live theater. Most do so resoundingly, but two stand out: Robin Wright Penn and Jason Isaacs.

Name : Michael Wilmington / Alias : Chicago Tribune
A disturbingly frank look at people and relationships in contemporary Los Angeles and a thrilling dramatic showcase for a brilliant cast.

Name : Ty Burr / Alias : Boston Globe
Not all of Nine Lives clicks, but at its best it finds an inarticulate sisterly solace that makes you want to see what this director could do with one life per film.

Name : Robert Denerstein / Alias : Denver Rocky Mountain News
In looking at the lives of nine very different women, Garcia often seems to be closing in on something essential, small suggestive moments that attempt to resonate with meaning. Some do. Some don't.

Name : Roger Moore / Alias : Orlando Sentinel
Nine Lives is an elegant film of quick, tour-de-force acting turns, a simple actor's gesture that tells you more than four pages of dialogue, a movie that demands concentration but that rewards the viewer willing to pay attention.

Name : Richard Roeper / Alias : Ebert & Roeper
I thought this was a great film.

This movie Inherent Vice great come from this channel (http://moviestreaming.vodlockertv.com/?tt=1791528) and this great movie ☣SECRET☣ Watching And Download Inherent Vice Full HD can download and watch for free unlimited.

"Inherent Vice," is the seventh feature from Paul Thomas Anderson and the first ever film adaption of a Thomas Pynchon novel. When private eye Doc Sportello‘s ex-old lady suddenly out of nowhere shows up with a story about her current billionaire land developer boyfriend whom she just happens to be in love with, and a plot by his wife and her boyfriend to kidnap that billionaire and throw him in a looney bin...well, easy for her to say. It‘s the tail end of the psychedelic `60s and paranoia is running the day and Doc knows that "love" is another of those words going around at the moment, like "trip" or "groovy," that‘s being way too overused - except this one usually leads to trouble. With a cast of characters that includes surfers, hustlers, dopers and rockers, a murderous loan shark, LAPD Detectives, a tenor sax player working undercover, and a mysterious entity known as the Golden Fang, which may only be a tax dodge set up by some dentists... Part surf noir, part psychedelic romp - all Thomas Pynchon. (C) Warner Bros.

Comment For Inherent Vice Cinema Devoto

Name : Manohla Dargis / Alias : New York Times
Mr. Anderson has condensed the book with surgical precision, ditching certain subplots, characters and locales while retaining the novel's sociopolitical tug, barbed asides and chokingly funny details.

Name : Betsy Sharkey / Alias : Los Angeles Times
Trying to pare back Pynchon without killing the joke was the challenge. Anderson has done a remarkable job of replicating the crazy kaleidoscope of crime, dope and raunch the novelist conjured.

Name : Anthony Lane / Alias : New Yorker
"Inherent Vice" is not only the first Pynchon movie; it could also, I suspect, turn out to be the last. Either way, it is the best and the most exasperating that we'll ever have.

Name : Ben Kenigsberg / Alias : AV Club
The fact that perhaps 90 percent of the dialogue comes from Pynchon poses an authorship question that doesn't exist with Anderson's other movies. Still, the deftness with comedy and actors are at a level that few filmmakers working today could achieve.

Name : Joshua Rothkopf / Alias : Time Out New York
As with Magnolia and Punch-Drunk Love, the director has created another vivid Los Angeles, one that doesn't lean too hard on its pop-culture references to TV's Adam-12 or Neil Young's gentle Harvest album.

Name : Lou Lumenick / Alias : New York Post
Makes Howard Hawks' legendarily confusing 'The Big Sleep' look like a model of narrative coherence.

Name : Joe Morgenstern / Alias : Wall Street Journal
Since most of Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice was meant to be impenetrable, the best approach, as you watch it drift by, is to savor the dreamy images and druggy jokes and forget about penetrating the plot.

Name : Todd McCarthy / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
Offers a only a pale and narrow physical recreation of such a vibrant place and time.

Name : Stephanie Zacharek / Alias : Village Voice
A huge relief, as if a giant gas bubble had finally, with great effort, reached the surface of the pond with a cathartic blurp.

Name : Ella Taylor / Alias : NPR
I love Anderson's ambition, but it is awfully hard to make a movie about a culture adrift that doesn't make its audience feel the same. Inherent Vice runs a punishing 148 minutes, not enough of which are funny or sad enough to hold us.

Name : Elizabeth Weitzman / Alias : New York Daily News
Phoenix's extraordinary performance pulls the movie's infinite strands together. But this twisty tale takes so many foggy turns that you'll want to approach it with a plan.

Name : James Berardinelli / Alias : ReelViews
At first glance, Inherent Vice might seem to be a detective story. Look a little closer, however, and it becomes clear that this is Paul Thomas Anderson's idea of a comedy.

Name : Bob Mondello / Alias : NPR
[P.T. Anderson] is a terrific stylist . and the scattershot pleasures he's peddling in 'Inherent Vice' may well satisfy those who like style more than substance, or maybe who like their style with substances.

Name : Peter Travers / Alias : Rolling Stone
Inherent Vice, brilliantly scored by Jonny Greenwood, is an Anderson head trip, impure jazz with a reverb that can leave you dazed, confused and even annoyed. But at no time do you doubt that you are in the hands of a master.

Name : Wesley Morris / Alias : Grantland
There are, of course, two ways to experience Inherent Vice: with the brain on or the brain off. Both work. The latter is a good time, the former more illuminating.

Name : David Edelstein / Alias : New York Magazine/Vulture
It's actually less coherent than Pynchon, no small feat. It's not shallow, though.

Name : Chris Nashawaty / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
Inherent Vice is half-baked Raymond Chandler. With too much emphasis on the baked part.

Name : Scott Foundas / Alias : Variety
Anderson's seventh feature film is a groovy, richly funny stoner romp.

Name : Claudia Puig / Alias : USA Today
Think of it as a film that's meant to be experienced, more than fully understood.

Name : Richard Corliss / Alias : TIME Magazine
Never quite transcending the sum of its agreeably disparate parts, IV is less groovy than gnarled and goofy, but in a studied way. Call it an acquired taste with a kinky savor.

Name : Peter Rainer / Alias : Christian Science Monitor
[Paul Thomas Anderson's new movie] is a kind of companion piece to Altman's The Long Goodbye, and it's the sort of failure that only a director of his talents could make.

Name : Stephen Whitty / Alias : Newark Star-Ledger
Anderson, as always, knows exactly what he's doing with the camera. Scenes are often staged in the haze of smoke or fog; sometimes characters are introduced late into the frame, or action happens just out of it.

Name : Kyle Smith / Alias : New York Post
"Inherent Vice," meandering even by Anderson's standards, is easily the worst of his movies, a soporific 2 /₂- hour endurance test.

Name : Peter Howell / Alias : Toronto Star
This "sunshine noir" bakes your brain, in a good way.

Name : Andrew O'Hehir / Alias : Salon.com
I can't wait to see it again.

Name : Liam Lacey / Alias : Globe and Mail
Too often, the film gets distracted with things to giggle at, and breaks the spell.
